Celebrated this year starting on March 20th, the Iranian New Year marks the beginning of Spring. In 2010, the UN General Assembly recognized Nowruz as a spring festival of Persian origin which has been celebrated for over 3000 years.
The US Senate last year also passed the Nowroz Resolution which recognizes the cultural and historical significance of Nowruz.
